Red Earth Hawaii is pleased to introduce Ulu the Earthworm, a Kauai Native with deep local roots. Born and raised in the depths of Kauai’s underground, Ulu was nurtured in rich, red Hawaiian soil. After wiggling his way around vast cane fields and rustic plantation camps, Ulu managed to work his way up the local roots and graduated with top honors from Camp Waimea School for the Gifted & Talented. Ulu was a gifted earthworm who envisioned peace and harmony, and a a talented musician and dancer. Ulu’s favorite subject at school was field trips and “doing da slide” (sliding down sugar the sugar cane stalks on rainy days).
Presently Ulu resides on the west side with his ohana, helping young earthworms to stay in school. A founding member of the Hawaiian Earthworm Society, Ulu is also a member of an oldies rock group, “The Wigglers,” and a supporting member of the “Proud to be Poi Club.” To this day Ulu wants to meet his childhood hero, the Red Earth Man of whom Ulu’s tutu (grandmother) Moku often told him stories in his youth.
